Gedal La Deg

10 Words by Tim: bird, film, book, car, musty, peach, imagination, bedroom, street, orange

I can’t remember where I saw her first,
That funny bird, hot tree.

Maybe in that old film or
That crazy book on my bedroom floor.

Perhaps it was yesterday,
That creamy car night,
Parked on that musty street
Named Peach Tree Boulevard.

I can’t really remember now
Where I saw her last.

Maybe it’s only this fast sky
And blue-orange wind
Playing with my imagination.

The Freight Handler

10 Words by Paul: fence, corn, listless, deafening, thick, blindly, graft, fallow, simple, freight

Blindly grafts the mind,
Freight handler redefined,
Roots from fallow lands,
Touched by artists’ hands.

Simple rhymes transcend,
Deafening madness ends,
Thick broad strokes of paint,
Expression without restraint.

Cornfields calming cascades,
Cerulean blue-green shades,
Listless moments awake,
Fenced in emotions break.

Free and open…

Spring Metamorphosis

10 Words by Ken: rebirth, fertile, feverish, metamorphosis, tendril, migration, tentative, exhale, syrup, emerge

Though spring is late, it was worth the wait,
Earth yearning to break, rebirth in its wake.
Like a fertile tendril, climbing with such skill,
The plant of free will, spiraling consistently uphill.

Calling me to emerge! Outside on the verge,
Demanding exploration for all spring creations.
Unknown destinations and unending inspirations,
My own unique migrations and choices of determination.

Syrup and pancakes, or snakes and lakes?
Breakfast will be missed; mistakes made to subsist.

Feverish…

A tad preventative, boring duties, tentative,
I exhale and inhale, prevailing the trail.

The scents of spring bring me to a place not easily explained…

Bliss in knowing, abysses forgoing,
Persisting to exist, in my individual spring metamorphosis.

Does she know the oak tree?

10 Words by Tello: love, romance, tree, heavens, stars, moon, saturn, jupiter, war, peace

Has she seen the oak tree,
Or heard of the golden fleece,
Or of my interest in folklore,
Or my stance on war or peace?

I’m not inclined to romance or love,
No June moon dance or doves,
And looking at the lonely heavens,
Only Jupiter’s six or sevens above.

I admit to my Saturn disposition,
My consistent pattern of indecision,
And try to find the constellation of Mars,
But just a few stars of inquisition.

Does she know the oak tree?
Does she know me?

The Line

10 Words by Dzvinka: passion, music, love, future, past, flowers, green, yellow, earth, dance

Poets write of peculiar passions,
Dreamers speak of simple compassions,
Lovers dream of music and dance,
Imagination overflows at first glance.

How to find the yellow submarine?
Odd fellow from the sea of green.
Frenzied flowers spring from the earth,
Petals of hope, powers of rebirth.

Future and past collide in peace,
Moving ahead as one chess piece,
But in contrast I walk the line,
Holding fast to the life I myself design.

Brunch with Betty

10 Words by Rickie: English, house, dogwood, daffodil, palladium, clean, grass, clouds, blue, bark

Though a great venue for purchasing art,
I had to depart the colossal Merchandise Mart,
Full city block - Orleans, Kinzie and Wells,
I had to escape from whom the toll bells.

Walking, running, straining to board my train,
Hopes running high and body in slight pain,
Workday was weary and also slightly dark,
Demands, orders, ten shouts, one bark.

iPod music drew me into blue clouds,
Happy to be away from the Loop crowds,
Riding the mean Chicago Green Line “L”,
Looking out of the window in a wistful spell.

On the way home I ran into a neighbor,
The day was long, but no more forced labor,
She smiled and insisted we take a different route,
My instinct was to doubt, perhaps even to shout.

Silently walking down the quiet streets,
Reminding me of the visual aesthetic treats,
Passing pleasant flowers of beautiful Dogwood,
To enjoy the present was completely understood.

We walked by a stately English Tudor,
Alarms sounded loudly, an unexpected intruder,
Drowned out the pianist practicing Strauss,
From inside this elegant three-story house.

It had a staircase the color of Palladium,
Playing with senses like radioactive Radium,
Big beautiful broad lawn of man-made grass,
Daffodil designs in intricate stained glass.

Hemingway would rather relax on Bimini,
Favoring narrow minds in handsome bikinis,
Compared to the city, Oak Park was clean,
Such a relaxing scene, everything so green.

Because of the walk I felt very much reborn,
Passed the house where Betty White was born,
I remembered the Palmer House brunch in May,
What a pleasant end to an awful workday.

Accordion Head

10 Words by Tatiana: autumnal, music, French, bounding, crowd, smoky, birch, crackle, accordion, lantern

Be kind, and remind me, where should my mind be?

My head expands and inhales, taking in life, drawing it out, like a portable squeeze box. Why doesn't this breeze ease, or appease? instead of just tease, before the impending deep freeze...please.

Just enjoying my flannel outdoor setting, sitting on my French-style wood bench. There should be musical accompaniment to the dancing birch leaves and autumnal breeze with its delicate scent of decay. Hopes, yes, do remain, bounding; echoes resounding, browsing obtrusively, current states of mind, rousing...now crowding...

Be kind, and remind me, where will my mind go?

Memories are smoky, yes, but they are definitively sound. This sound should be...music...

Apple tree leaves crackle under feet, hopes are fragile, thoughts ramble, scrambling to remain thankful for so much, be it just keeping rational for the moment. My eyes take in all; my brain, dissects, and takes dictation mostly. This portable box vibrates annoyingly, and doesn't let me sleep...

Like a lantern, I suppose, a light of solace and comfort, encased in a delicate glass box, seemingly to provide sight, but in the end...just a small glimmer in the darkness...but I'll take it.

Dictation:
Protective
Reflective
Introspective
Retrospective
Suggestive
Congestive...

Be kind, and remind me, where should my mind be?

The Unusual Dinner Date

10 Words by Richard: table, under, toes, heels, playing, foot, massage, live, naked, her

Delicious delight discovered under the table,
A beautiful blunder did instantaneously enable
Me to see those beautiful rows of sweet toes,
Those toes, do make me compose lovely prose!

The high heels silently slipped off her feet,
And did reveal stunning, satiable, sweet,
Playing and displaying those gorgeous beauties,
Made me start praying and forgetting my duties.

“Can I massage your foot?” I heard myself say,
“My entourage will stay put,” I tried to convey.

Though she was indeed naked and partially nude,
Much to my surprise, she found me quite lude!
I tried to reassure her and ordered some wine,
I told her I cherished her and thought her divine.

After that comment, she decided to let me live,
She found me amusing, and indeed, did forgive.
Truth, she never found her feet very aesthetic,
But I’ll always view those beauties as undeniably poetic!

Composing Lyrics

10 Words by “Little” Craig: dimension, screw, backward, crazy, draft, infuse, complete, slide, comfort, creation

Diverted attentions and inverted dimensions,
Infused with a creation of a screw sensation,
Drafted hues to a backward musical muse,
With fresh tattoos and a bit different views.

Chords as colors, sound boarding off others,
Crazy and complete, with a lazy hazy beat,
Slide and support, vibes of distain and comfort,
New comprehensions, the miracles of invention.

Indecision

10 Words by Amadeu: red, rose, poppy, feeling, lips, nails, stop, blush, eyes, fire

Blue eyes rise to admire fire skies,
Then a rush to paint or compose,
But then at the canvas, or paper...
Perhaps a woman with ruby red lips,
Red nails, intricate details of lush tales,
Or perhaps a poppy, a blush of a rose,
Most changeable nature, who knows?
Nonstop questions with healing feelings,
But no end win, indecision of the twin.

Glass of Sangria

10 Words by Tatiana: spherical, sangria, music, order, onyx, berries, chalklines, stallion, whitespace, crashing

"Spherical bodies influencing this quiz,
It is almost lyrical how empirical life is."

She ordered a Sangria with berries and cherries,
And requested jazz music to have some fun,
She spoke of Pangea, but knew she'd lose it,
Hypothecial history when all was one.

Always in order and walking the line,
She changed her mind, not the first time,
She wanted it, "A shot of black onyx tonic please,"
But still visions of chalklines persisted and teased.

Flaming Italian Stallion followed the shot,
She downed and dreamt of whitespace,
Emotions crashing, flashing cool and hot,
A question of knights, diamonds or spades.

Most often without the scientific method,
Only from experience or experiment,
Not by knowledge but by observation alone,
With a handful of hopes for joy or merriment.

"Spherical bodies influencing this quiz,
It is almost lyrical how empirical life is."

Understand

10 Words by Steve: discovery, wisdom, truth, latitude, irony, glimmer, reach, darkness, science, span

Discovery or recovery? That is the question.
Wisdom or truth? Only for the youth, or uncouth?
As I journey on this latitude, praying for scope of freedom,
Of thought or of action...
I am enveloped in gratitude, in effectual irony,
Or satire, that glimmers...but smiles,
And simmers.

In my reaches in the darkness, I turn to Science.
Always in compliance, spanned in my forever future,
Pretty much planned, giving my all, my last hand,
"Expand," I proclaim to the world,
"Understand, because…"

Evening Flowers

My soul, my soul, my blood, my soul!
…Fireflies rise before their demise.

Picking evening flowers, the scent soothes,
Satiates, and fills emptiness to whole…
Evening strolls and lavender at night,
No more fight, just light; sound and perfume tonight.
As the hours end, unto dreams I will descend,
To dream of lavender and transcend and perhaps comprehend,

For tomorrow is a new day…a new bouquet.

One Smile

10 Words by Mike: faith, beautiful, grace, sad, pain, smile, sunshine, love, feel, honesty

To get one smile makes everything worthwhile.
At times pain drains, but to remain sane,
I sustain faith and trust, and readjust from sad to glad.
Breathing in fresh air, and at times, perhaps a prayer,
Helps me to be aware of the beautiful and the fair.

Soon, with great care, I am walking on air.

What I feel is the sure deal, almost magical and surreal,
As honesty and blind truth flowing freely from youth.
Now the sunshine is all mine; what an amazing divine design,
I embrace the grace I see in the vast space above me.

Love and beauty are real truth,
Life is as simple as that…

To get one smile makes everything worthwhile.
